Energy planning lacks clarity according to MPs

According to Energy and Climate Change Select committee, guidelines framed by government to accelerate the pace of planning permission for chief energy projects is falling flat on detailing front, prompting MPs to take up this matter seriously and debate on it in Parliament.Delving in matter further, critics are of opinion that Infrastructure Planning Commission wing of government is overlooking the local objections. The Commission is cutting through situations and is likely to push through projects for energy companies which has triggered serious concern for them. Rather, according to critics, more focus should be on the fact that how IPC will instigate companies (namely EDF, RWE npower, E.ON and Centrica) to formulate plans for disposing off nuclear waste, constructing CO2 pipelines for clean coal plants and in the process, helping UK government in cutting down on its targeted CO2 emissions. For readers information, the above-mentioned players are contending to build nuclear power stations by 2017. The report also stated that Government's mishandling of the entire process has resulted in loss of precious time that could have been used for reviewing the state of affairs in parliament.
